In Oerlikon Barmag winding systems (such as the ACW or WINGS series), yarn guide rod is a critical component for achieving fully automatic doffing.
Its primary function is to precisely guide the yarn ends into the catching groove of the new paper tube at the moment of doffing, thereby completing the "transfer tail" and "string-up" process.
1. Core Functions and Operating Principles
Switching and Guiding: Once the full package is complete and the traverse guide stops, the tail wing intervenes rapidly to redirect the yarn path.
String-up and Catching: It presses the yarn toward the edge of the new paper tube, allowing the yarn to be caught by the tube's notch (catching groove).
Transfer Tail Control: It ensures a consistent length of the "transfer tail" at the bottom of the tube, facilitating easy yarn end finding for downstream processes like weaving or DTY.
2. Materials and Technical Requirements
The performance requirements for the tail wing are exceptionally high due to its extreme speeds during doffing and frequent contact with high-speed running yarn.
Lightweight and High Strength:** It is typically made from specialized carbon fiber, titanium alloy, or high-strength aluminum. Lightweighting is essential to reduce kinetic inertia and achieve millisecond-level response times.
Bearings are the single most failure-critical components in a Barmag spinning machine. In high-speed winders running continuously at winding speeds above 4,000...
